I will say without hesitation that I like Generations Cliffjumper more than Bumblebee, mostly on the merits of the strong color scheme and being a Cliffjumper figure that actually has a Cliffjumper head! However, the nagging transformation scheme is still a pain and my comments about the Bumblebee sculpt still stand. I do recommend this figure, but it could have been better.

  • It’s time for another look at the Generations Asia Exclusive / China Import Deluxe assortment, and getting the TFW gallery treatment today is Cliffjumper! Cliffjumper here is one of two figures within the Generations Asia Exclusive assortment whose toys were taken from the Transformers Prime first edition series and given new, Generation 1 styled heads (the other is , from ). It’s a crazy idea given how distinctive the Transformers Prime designs are, but sometimes, crazy works, and in this case, it most certainly does. This new Generations Cliffjumper boasts a fantastic sheen on his red plastic, a nice, deep and shiny shade, and the new head manages to fit in with the Transformers Prime body design while still being distinctively Generation 1. My only criticism is he really needs a handgun to further set himself apart from the Prime version of the character.

After snagging the Asia exclusive Generations Cliffjumper I really liked the headsculpt but could only think of the body as a TF Prime Cliff. So off with his head! The body I chose was a Special Ops Jazz and went to work on making him a bit different from the waist down. Modifications include the lower legs were swapped so that he could still transform though his feet were backwards. The large foot became the shin panel and the heels modded to become the smaller front feet. The spoiler was removed for clearance and I modded quite a bit from the back of his legs to get really nice 'backwards' knee articulation. Sentinel Prime's mech-tech weapon became his blaster/bazooka and some C-clip weaponry worked in place of Jazz's speakers. I used Testors One Coat Lacquer Revving Red for the basecoat and finished up the details. Now he really looks like a Generations Cliffjumper!
