One tank full of water lasted the entire night for my daughter and me, even with the Crane Train Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier set on high. There was even water left over in the tank at the end of the night. However, I found that I generally did not need to set the humidifier to high. A lower setting filled the bedroom with enough cool moisture for the perfect comfort level. Depending on the size of your room and the overall humidity, you can play around with the adjustable setting on the humidifier to find the perfect level of moisture for you.
The only negative point that I can mention about the Crane Train Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier is the light. I personally require a completely dark room to sleep well. I have blackout shades on my bedroom windows, which creates a cave of darkness. Even a little bit of light distracts me. The Train humidifier comes with a light on the front of the engine that turns from green to red when empty. I was able to easily cover up the light with a dark towel, so the light is only a minor issue for me.
Emptying and cleaning the Crane Train Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier is just as easy. After twenty-four hours or once the water tank is empty, remove the water tank from the base. Pour out any remaining water from the base following the directional instructions on the base. Flip the tank over and unscrew the cap. Pour out any remaining water. To clean the humidifier, pour some white vinegar into the tank and swish. Wipe the base clean with a little vinegar too. Avoid contact with vinegar on the cap to prevent the vinegar from destroying the metal pieces. Then allow the tank, cap, and base to dry. Crane makes the setup and care of the Train Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier incredibly easy, which is perfect for a busy family like mine.
I will also note that I used regular tap water to fill my Train Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier. Crane does recommend the use of distilled, filtered, or demineralized water to prevent white dust from building up from the cool mist. When using tap water, I did find myself needing to dust down my bedroom more often because of white dust buildup. However, because I am already fighting a losing battle against dust in my home, I am not all that concerned about a little extra dust in my bedroom. I just know that I need to dust the room more often. If you are worried about the white dust, then using distilled or similar water significantly cuts down on the mineral residue from the humidifier.
